A Look Into Liposuction

Liposuction is a surgical treatment that includes removal of fatty tissues from various body parts using suction of any unwanted fat. The most common use of liposuction is removing extra fat from thighs, back, neck, face and buttocks. It is performed by a skilled plastic surgeon, using a saline or other ultrasound related methods for breaking up the fat underneath your skin and then extracting it using a vacuum or other means. A mild or heavy anesthesia may be used for treatment, depending on the part or person on which the treatment is to be carried on.

People with loose or elastic skin having excess stores of fat are best suited for this treatment. The person to undergo this treatment needs to be psychologically stable and physically healthy to undergo this treatment. Liposuction is an option for those who are unable to lose their weight even after a lot of rigorous efforts. It may also be due to some hormonal disorder. Mostly people are unable to lose their weight due to their work schedule and no time for exercise or to maintain a proper diet. These are the perfect specimens for a Liposuction surgery. Age is no bar to undergo a liposuction surgery. Well usually older people have a loosened skin and may not be able to get same results as a younger patient having a tighter skin.

Liposuction uses a variety of specialized machinery and techniques to detect and remove excess amounts of fat. Ultrasound related tools are usually used to detect the fat under the patient's skin and remove them. In earlier days a different technique was used for this purpose. A kind of vacuum machine was inserted in target area which would suck out some of the fat. Then later a technique involved a syringe or saline to be injected in the target area.

Today mostly ultrasound and ultrasonic liposuction are used for this purpose. In this technique high pulsating ultrasound waves are used to instantly liquefy the target fat content. This liquefied fat is then removed using some syringe or other vacuum device. It has helped people reduce their weight drastically and also maintain their BMI (body mass index). It has also helped in decreasing joint aches and back pain, increasing movement range of body parts. But it also has its disadvantages.

Any kind of surgery has a possibility of failure and risks or possible side effects associated with it. There are various unwanted changes and negative possibilities related to this treatment. It may lead to temporary swellings foe one or at most three months usually, pain in the part of surgery, or limited movement of the part of treatment. Well these were the temporary side effects, now lets see some of the permanent or long-term possible defects.

Well these effects may include infection caused due to possible wounds caused during surgery, a little loosened or withered looking skin, fluid imbalance in the body, damage to skin or rough skin. It may also lead to cardiac related problems in adverse cases.
